Hydrocyclone

A hydrocyclone is a kind of equipment for classifying the ore pulp by use of centrifugal force. It has no motion and dynamic parts, and needs to be matched with corresponding slurry pump.lt is mainly used in ore dressing industry for classifying,de-watering and de-sliming.
  • Overflow Particle Size: 0.025-0.25mm
  • Pulp Handling Capacity: 2.4-108(m³/h)
  • Suitable for: Metal Ores: Grinding, classification, desliming, and tailings treatment in the beneficiation processes of iron, copper, gold, lead-zinc ores, etc. Non-metallic Minerals: Purification and classification of quartz sand, kaolin, feldspar, phosphate rock, etc. Coal Industry: Coal slime water treatment, clean coal recovery from coal washing plants Environmental Protection: Wastewater treatment, oil removal from oily wastewater, and sludge dewatering Chemical and Food Industries: Catalyst separation, starch extraction, liquid-liquid separation, etc.

  • High Classification Efficiency
  • Stable Structure & Low Maintenance
  • Flexible & Versatile Application

We Always Focus On Optimizing The User Experience Of Our Products

1. Large Processing Capacity

Parallel unit design boosts throughput and perfectly fits large-scale production demands.

2. High Classification Efficiency

Efficiency reaches 80%-90% with controllable particle size, ideal for fine grading work.

3. Stable Structure & Low Maintenance

Simple structure without movable parts, reliable operation, small footprint, and low running cost.

4. Flexible & Versatile Application

Modular assembly supports flexible adjustment; available with automatic control, suitable for grading, desliming, dewatering, and tailings disposal.

Working Principle

Hydrocyclone arrays operate based on the principle of centrifugal sedimentation. The slurry or mixture enters the hydrocyclone tangentially under pressure, creating a high-speed rotating flow field within the cylinder. Due to the different centrifugal forces experienced by particles of different sizes or densities, coarse particles or heavy phase materials are thrown against the wall and spiral downwards along the cone, exiting from the bottom outlet; while fine particles or light phase materials concentrate in the central region and are discharged from the top overflow pipe with the upward flow from the inner layer, thus achieving particle classification or liquid-solid separation.

When the processing capacity of a single hydrocyclone is insufficient, multiple units are connected in parallel to form a “hydrocyclone array,” sharing the feed pipe, overflow tank, and sedimentation tank, which both increases production capacity and ensures classification accuracy.

Product Structure

A hydrocyclone assembly mainly consists of the following components:

1. Multiple unit hydrocyclones: Installed in parallel, typically FX series (e.g., FX-125, FX-150), with diameters ranging from 50–660 mm.

2. Feed system: Includes a feed pump, distribution box, and feed pipeline, ensuring uniform material distribution to each unit.

3. Overflow box: Collects overflow from the top of each hydrocyclone, centrally outputting fine-particle product.

4. Settling box (underflow box): Collects coarse-particle material discharged from the bottom.

5. Support frame and piping system: Secures the overall structure and connects the various components.

6. Wear-resistant lining: The inside of the hydrocyclone is often lined with materials such as polyurethane, high-alumina ceramic, silicon carbide, or rubber to improve service life.
